Best Offers for Cheltenham 2021 - Day 2
Cheltenham Festival Best Offers for New Players
So Day 2 is done and we’re halfway through Cheltenham 2021. And what happened on Day 2?
Well, the day started as expected with the 6/4 Favourite Bob Olinger winning the first race. Did you know that Bob Olinger was named after the last person to be shot by Billy The Kid? Nah, neither did I. Onto Race 2 and you got the feeling that the day might not pan out as expected when the massively odds on favourite Monkfish decided they didn’t really want to play and barely managed to get over the line in first place. So far so good for those who like doing accumulator bets.
The 14.30 race had the largest field of the day and gave us our first surprise as Heaven Help Us, which was as big as 33/1 managed to win. That sound you heard was the tearing up of thousands of virtual betting slips.
It didn’t get any better. 8/13 odds on favourite Chacun Pour Soi could only manage third place in the 15.05 being beaten by Put The Kettle On and Nube Negra. The bookies were rubbing their hands…
In the 15.40, another odds on/evens favourite failed to win. Easysland was beaten into second by a fantastic ride by the veteran Tiger Roll who finished quite a way clear.
And then the first English winner of the day. St Patricks Day so far had been dominated by Irish winners but jockey Nick Sholfield managed Sky Pirate over the line to edge out Entoucas by a head.
And finally Sir Gerhard made it 5 our of 6 wins for Ireland when he won the last race of the day.
So how did we fare at PT Towers? Badly. Like most other people we went with the odds on favourites for a lot of them. Here’s what we did.
13.20 Does He Know 66/1 – well he didn’t. Fifth
13.55 Monkfish 1/3 – As above. A win, but so very nearly not
14.30 Sneaky Getaway EW 12/1 – Did as his name suggests. Finished last.
15.05 Chacun Pour Soi 5/6 3 – Third
15.40 Easysland 10/11 – Second
16.15 Ashutor EW 28/1 – Nothing special. Finished midfield of 19 runners
16.50 Ramillies EW 14/1 – Looked good
So not a brilliant day, but we go again tomorrow!
