Hamilton is a Flat racing venue located south of Glasgow. Its season runs from May through to October.
Racing has been recorded at Hamilton since 1782 and the venue is one of Scotlands most prestigious race tracks. In 1947, Hamilton racecourse became the first in the United Kingdom to host an evening meet.
The richest race at Hamilton is the Glasgow Stakes. This race is run every July over a distance of 1 mile, 3 furlongs and 16 yards and is open to 3 year old horses.
The course is a right handed one with a loop at one end. The ground is undulating with a pronounced hollow in the track about three furlongs from home and a definite incline at the run in.
