One of the most famous courses in the United Kingdom, Glorious Goodwood is located near Chichester in West Sussex. It is owned by Goodwood Estates which is controlled by the Duke of Richmond.
The Goodwood Festival, which is a Flat racing festival that takes place every year at the end of July/beginning of August, hosts 3 of the 36 Annual Group 1 flat races – the Sussex Stakes, the Goodwood Cup and the Nassau Stakes.
Horseracing is run at Goodwood between May and September.
The course itself is an unusual shape starting with a 6 furlong straight that is used for the Stewards Cup. After that it branches off into different course. These are the Craven Course, which is 1 mile and 2 furlongs long, the Gratwicke Course, which is 1 mile and 4 furlongs long and the Bentinck Course, at 1 mile and 6 furlongs.
